Interest in developing international cooperation and education is enormous. Since 2003, the annual seminars organized for trainers have set participation records within FEIF, and by 2004, more than one hundred participants were attending these events.
Within FEIF, education is organized at the national level. Each member country has its own educational system related to Icelandic horses, which is essential for acquiring Icelandic riding knowledge. The training process for riding instructors differs from country to country. The requirements also vary depending on the needs, culture, and history of each country. Some countries use a modular system for instructors, while others require college or even university-level education.
The goal of the FEIF Education Department is to harmonize national education matters at an international level. To achieve this, in 2006 it established a system that enables the smooth recognition of instructor qualifications and competencies for all member organizations, using a competency list that specifies various minimum requirements at different levels.
APCIR is working to meet these steps, and the more members we have, the closer we get to aligning with the training standards of other FEIF member countries.
